Four of the songs on the EP were written by Lawson while the fifth (and the single) ‘One of a kind’ was written by newcomer Liam. The Lawson songs are heavily steeped in Rolling Stones, Oasis, Blues, and 60s & 70s classic rock vibes. We also had some serious influence by Classic Australian rock, your AC/DCs and Easybeats which is a fantastic throwback to where this country has been in music and how it’s backbone has always been rock’n’roll.
There’s nothing more rewarding than playing to another city than your hometown and having people come out in droves to see you. We actually had two separate groups come up to us in places that were nowhere near where we played in Sydney (but near where we stayed) and recognise us and tell us how great we were last time they saw us.
Right now I’m listening to a couple of different local bands, I just finished ‘I feel alright’ by the Unknowns and am now listening to ‘Nazi Art’ by Fight Ibis. Both of which are really well recorded and brilliantly written songs worth a listen.
Most of the rest of 2018 will be taken up by the tour but we’re hoping to jump back into the recording studio and have something to throw at the world again by early 2019. The key part of 2018 will be our homecoming show where we’re headlining the Triffid on November 2nd with The Cherry Dolls, Selfish Sons, and Georgie Neilsen and the Growing Pains.
Beyond work and music, none of us are really left with a great deal of time, but I do like using that time to recharge… Read a book, watch a movie (binge watch a series on netflix), eat far too much food. Or of course hanging with mates, having a beer, chilling out. You know, the usual.
