Since their blown-out 2011 debut, Toronto trio Odonis Odonis has continued to push their sound further into the depths of post-apocalyptic experimentation. Following 2016’s foreboding ‘Post Plague’, ‘No Pop’ is the band’s starker, more dance-floor-friendly LP.
Stripping down instrumentation to a handful of synths and an electronic drum kit,the band worked quickly to write and record, bringing demos and improvised takes into the studio and completing the recording process over the course of three days. The result is a focused blend of hard-hitting industrial, techno, and noise – but each track on ‘No Pop’is never just one of those elements. Pulsing rhythms lay the ground for textural soundscapes masterfully woven together to create a palpable sense of doom that is thick and satisfying.
Taking its name from the anti-commercial ‘No Pop’ movement, which infers that there “is no expiration date on music nor is it limited by geographic or regional boundaries,” ‘No Pop’ is raw with emotion that’s elevated by deft production. Each hypnotizing meditation captures an uncomfortably honest cynicism with a brush of humor, emphasized by sparse vocals that taunt the current dystopia of technology, human emptiness and the mundane. ‘No Pop’ is the soundtrack of a sinking ship, and we’re all happily aboard to go down with it.
‘No Pop’ is being released by felte (worldwide excluding Canada) and Telephone Explosion (Canada) on October 20, 2017.

ODONIS ODONIS unveil “NASTY BOY” video – ‘No Pop’ coming on felte – Extend NA tour
ODONIS ODONIS SHARE NEW VIDEO “NASTY BOY” NO POP COMING OCTOBER 20 ON FELTE AND TELEPHONE EXPLOSION EXTEND NORTH AMERICAN TOUR: NYC, CHI, LA, SF +
Toronto’s Odonis Odonis strike us with new video for their second single “Nasty Boy”. The band explain, “like shrugging off a claustrophobic blanket of expectations, this video is us in full zero fuc*s mode. The ideology behind our new album, No Pop, and what is called the #nopop movement, has been a freeing experience. With no expectations, hangs ups or second guesses, #nopop represents to us, if anything, a threshold that you hit in your artistic life where you stop caring about being cool or overanalyzing the outcome of any given situation that arises when making your art. Create for creation’s sake and let culture experience, judge, do with it what it may.”
“Nasty Boy” debuted via Noisey today describing “The song pretty much owns in every conceivable way, an almost retro-leaning dance-punk number with screamed vocals and an incredibly badass synth line driving the whole thing.

ODONIS ODONIS ANNOUNCE NEW ALBUM ‘NO POP’ COMING OCTOBER 20 ON FELTE UNVEIL FIRST TRACK “CHECK MY PROFILE”
LIVE DATES CONFIRMED: NYC, CHICAGO, CANADA
Odonis Odonis hit us with the first track “Check My Profile” from their forthcoming album ‘No Pop’. They’ve explained the song was originally “meant to be an instrumental and the vocals were added last minute. Lyrically, it’s a tongue-in-cheek take on how we’ve replaced human interactions with people onto social media platforms. It touches on the side effects of depression, anxiety and the confusing nature of the online dating world that have ultimately left us unfulfilled.”
