The house worlds of New York and London collide on “No Fear” (Major Toms/Big Beat Records) which sees England’s chart topping, platinum-selling collective Rudimental team up with Bronx born DJs and producers The Martinez Brothers – watch HERE. The track also features vocals from New Jersey born rising star Donna Missal who also appears on Macklemore’s latest album.
The results are far from expected – an unusual partnership born out of mutual admiration and a chance meeting at Wild Life Festival, producing a moody slice of vocal house music that could only have been born from collaboration. ‘No Fear’ became an anthem in Ibiza & beyond this summer with a plethora of support from the likes of Jamie Jones, Claptone, Groove Armada, and Lee Foss to name a few.
Rudimental are longtime fans of Chris and Steve Martinez, eventually asking them to play their WildLife Festival. After this, the band sent the brothers an idea for a track. A collaborative late night Ibiza session and some transatlantic file sharing later, and “No Fear” emerged.
Rudimental are currently at work on their third album, releasing the LP’s first single this summer – “Sun Comes Up” ft. James Arthur on Major Toms/Big Beat Records (now at over 100 million global streams). Subsequently, the boys embarked on a hugely successful weekly Ibiza residency every Tuesday at Amnesia this past summer. The Martinez Brothers are also fresh off another Ibiza season as residents at DC10’s Circo Loco and currently star in Carolina Herrera’s global 212 fragrance campaign.
To date, Rudimental has sold over 1.7 million albums and 11.2 million singles worldwide, as well as racked up over 300 million streams in the US alone. Rudimental’s second UK #1 studio album which went GOLD in the UK, “WE THE GENERATION,” was released in 2015 to rave reviews, and featured the smash single “Lay It All On Me” ft. Ed Sheeran (along with a VIP Mix edit that included Vic Mensa & Big Sean), as well as the very last vocal recordings from the late, great Bobby Womack on the track “New Day.” It married an array of genres including soul, funk, drum and bass, and hip hop and followed the band’s debut album “Home.” That album, also released to critical acclaim in 2013, earned the group a Mercury Prize nomination and a BRIT Award. In 2015, Rudimental created their very own UK festival,Wild Life, which won ‘Best New Festival’ at the UK Festival Awards. For all upcoming live dates please visit: www.rudimental.co.uk.
