DIZZY RELEASE VIDEO FOR SINGLE “SWIM”
OUT NOW ON CANVASBACK & ROYAL MOUNTAIN ON TOUR NOW
Dizzy are excited to share the video for their new single, “Swim.” The track is out now via independent Canadian label, Royal Mountain. DIY Mag premiered it today and noted that the track “suitably evokes the feeling of its title, diving into a world of washy synths and sharp, glacial percussion. It’s laid over by vocals equally as breathy and atmospheric.”
Oshawa, Ontario quartet Dizzy are made up of three brothers – Charlie, Alex and Mackenzie Spencer, and their friend, vocalist Katie Munshaw. Dizzy’s music broadly finds its inspiration from growing up adrift of the city, finding their place in the confines of the suburbs and reflecting on that period. The quartet are still working out how and why that upbringing has moulded them as people. It’s a blissful soundscape, anchored by the breathless nature of Katie’s vocals, and the confident, sublime backing from the brothers.
It immediately sounds exciting, far bigger than the confines of suburban Canada, and crucially, it’s a sound that is all theirs. “Swim” is almost certainly the last great song of 2017.
Vocalist Katie Munshaw: “Oshawa is dense. We all grew up in modern suburbia so there’s an arm’s length between my neighbour’s house and mine. Making music always stemmed from my being overly sensitive about everything, so when you’re that close to so many people you’re bound to meet the essential characters that screw you up enough to start writing about them. Oshawa introduced me to friendship and heartache and change, while keeping me bored enough to sit at home and write about it.”
Dizzy are currently wrapping up a run of North American dates with SHAED and Foreign Air. Watch this space for more news in 2018.
