What is your name and role within the band?
Loïc : I play the guitar and sing.
How did you start?
L : Maëlan and I played a lot together in our teenage years. Then we kind of parted when we went to university and went on to play in various bands. One day my brother asked me if I could write the soundtrack of a short film he was to direct. I didn’t really want to do it on my own and it felt quite natural to ask Maëlan to do it with me. Originally, the band was supposed to be a short lived project, but we enjoyed playing together again so much that we decided to go on.
Where are you based?
L : The four of us live in Nantes, in Britanny, western France.
Please give an example of your music writing process?
All songs come from a different place and take a particular process to write. It’s still quite a mysterious thing to me to be honest, how and why a couple of chords you once played while watching the telly end up being a song you play in front of other people or record.
What are you working on right now?
We’re writing our second album, which should be recorded next november and released in early 2017.
What is your gear setup?
Two guitars, a bass, drums and an old Phillips organ.
What do you like to do outside of music and does it affect your music?
I’m a huge football fan, but I have no idea if or how it affects the music I play. Just as any other thing I like doing in my everyday life, the places I go and the people I meet.
How would you describe your music genre?
We’ve been labeled as post-punk, or shoegaze and various others, so I’m not sure. I guess people react to music with their own references, so I don’t like giving guidelines.
Do you know any music theory?
I can read rythm, but that’s about it.
What are your plans for the future?
Releasing a second album and play it live as much and as fare as we can.
How did you get into music?
Out of boredom, I guess. You grow up in small town, are shit at sports and there’s an old guitar that lies around in the house, what else are you going to do?
What are you listening to at the moment?
« Supermercado » by canadian band Corridor, Hyperculte’s eponym album, « Sincerely Future Pollution » by Timber Timbre.
Who are your top 5 influences and icons?
Clinic, Sonic Youth, Pavement, Yann Tiersen and Steven Gerrard.
When are you playing next?
We’re playing in a small coastal town called Landeda in a couple of week.
