Sorry
B-side to debut single ‘Wished’ – out now on Domino
New London band Sorry today revealed ‘Lies’, the B-side to their recent debut single ‘Wished’ on Domino. Centered around Asha Lorenz and Louis O’Bryen – two 19 year-old childhood best friends – along with Lincoln Barrett (drums) and Campbell Baum (bass), Sorry have been making a name for themselves on London’s underground circuit since 2015 before releasing their breakout first studio recordings. ’Wished’/’Lies’ will be packaged together as a 7” vinyl release on Domino, available to pre-order HERE.
Although starting life with a conventional rock band set up, Sorry’s tastes are wide-ranging and reflect their age and omnivorous YouTube-era musical upbringing where rock, hip hop, noise, electronic soundscapes, grime and folk all sit side-by-side and without confusion. Accordingly, all these influences and more form the band’s unique nascent musical universe – a bold, ambitious and at times irreverent canvas onto which the symbiotic intensity of Lorenz’s and O’Bryen’s emotional and hyper-melodic songwriting is projected.
Recorded by Sean Oakley (Rick Rubin, Frank Ocean) and mixed by Andrew Savours (My Bloody Valentine), ‘Wished’/’Lies’ is an enticing first document of the band’s effortlessly emotive songwriting
and command of atmosphere which will be familiar to anyone who has seen their visceral live shows so far, as well as a glimpse at in-studio production possibilities to be explored in their future work.
‘Wished’ arrived in November with a POV visual co-directed by Asha and India Lee. The video’s paranoid atmosphere complementing its anxious riffs and claustrophobic beats flawlessly – watch here. The single follows the recent self-release of Home Demo(ns) Vol. 1, an eclectic, homespun 13 track mixtape with accompanying visuals co-directed by Asha and Flo Webb – watch here.
