Following the release of their latest single ‘Gucci Rock N Rolla’ (featuring KYLE, andWeezer frontman Rivers Cuomo), London duo Snakehips have unveiled the brand-new remix package of the single, starring reworks from Canadian production pair Banx & Ranx, and fast-rising UK talent, Freejak.
Adopting the surf-rock feel of Snakehips’ original, Montreal based duo Banx & Ranx – best known for their huge Yxng Bane collaboration ‘Answerphone’ (100 million Spotify streams) – add a slick melodic touch to their reimagining, fusing down-tempo chord patterns and breezy summer synths to create a wistful rework.
The production is of stark contrast to the thumping bassline injected by Freejak, who previously teamed up with Kelis on ‘My Milkshake’, a house-flavoured rebirth of the R&B superstar’s 2004 classic. Mixing ‘Gucci Rock N Rolla’s original vocal with his own four-to-the-floor rhythm, Freejak creates a primetime club weapon led by a vibrant and floorfilling beat.
Having previously collaborated with artists like Chance The Rapper,Anderson Paak, MØ, Anne-Marie and Joey Bada$$, Snakehips list acts like Aaliyah and SWV as their musical influences. Performing across the United States in 2018 with their 7-date tour, the duo also performed to thousands at Coachella, and are already penciled in for EDC Mexico 2019.
Continuing to demonstrate their dynamic diversity in the studio, amassing over 1Billionstreams across all platforms, the 2-track remix package of Snakehips’ latest hit is set for release on Friday 8th February.
