FUTURES EP OUT NOW ON LIMITED EDITION 12″ VINYLSTREAM + SHARE
Today, London 4-piece PREP have released a brand new official remix for debut single “Sunburnt Through The Glass” by Portland artist Shy Girls.
The delectably smooth and soulful remix comes as a follow up to their debut EP Futures, out now via B3SCI Records (order HERE), and is a precursor for new releases on the horizon for the band.
Since their 2015 introduction, PREP have proven themselves trailblazers in crafting modern soul with delicate pop sensibilities. Early tracks “Cheapest Flight” and “Sunburnt Through The Glass” turned heads with their distinct melodies and earnest vocal lines, solidifying them as bona-fide ‘ones to watch’ in 2016. Recent singles “Futures” and “Who’s Got You Singing Again” and their debut EP Futures are a testament to PREP’s slick songwriting prowess, textured instrumentation, and, quite simply, their ability to create undeniably soulful vibes, which Rolling Stone has coined, “butter-smooth yacht-pop.”
Comprised of a hip-hop producer, a classical composer, a house DJ, and a singer songwriter with credits including Drake, Kwabs, Foxes, Raleigh Ritchie, and Klangkarussell, PREP fuse elements of R&B, funk, and jazz into a melting pot of blissfully-styled pop. PREP have also sharpened their remixing chops, cutting an official remix for the massive Snakehips / Tinashe / Chance The Rapper hit “All My Friends,” and were graced with a stellar remix of their own track “Cheapest Flight” by UK duo AlunaGeorge.
Taking inspiration from artists like Steely Dan, Michael McDonald, and Bobby Caldwell, who used session musicians to build a rich ensemble sound, PREP have honed their live show with a 6-piece live band. Their debut London shows were both sellouts and they will tour Asia for the 2nd time December 2017.
Having neared the top of the Hype Machine ‘Popular’ chart multiple times, racked up 3MM+ Spotify streams, and radio love from BBC Radio 1, 1Xtra, KCRW, and Beats1, PREP is a top act to watch, and, as The Line of Best Fit proclaims, is bringing listeners to “a much-needed funk-fueled trip to a sun-filled beach.”
