How did you start?
It was 1998, some friends bought two turntables and some techno and drum’n’bass vinyls and I couldn’t avoid playing a bit… And I am still doing it!
Where are you based?
In Barcelona, it’s a city with lots of different qualities that I like a lot.
Please give an example of your music creative process?
It depends a lot of the moment. Sometimes I begin a new track in the middle of a tour and sometimes in the studio. I usually play and record the synthesizers and drum machines live, then I select the best parts and start developing them more and more.
What are you working on right now?
I am working on some new projects, but I want everything to be ready before I talk about them… But there are big and interesting news coming soon!
What is your gear setup?
It’s like the creative process, it changes a lot. Sometimes I start new stuff only on my laptop, but on the studio there’s a lot of synths, modular stuff, moogs, dave smith, avalons, etc…
What do you like to do outside of music and does it affect your music?
I think that everything around affects me and consequently, my music… Life itself, people, movies and other forms of art, they are always inspiring me, and that reflects on my music.
How would you describe your music genre?
It’s very hard for a person to label him or herself… I like to make music, sometimes deeper, sometimes more techno. Anyway, I really hope people enjoy music independent of labels.
Do you know any music theory?
When I was younger I studied guitar and I am also a sound technician, but the biggest part of everything I know I learned by myself: synthesis, playing electric bass, djing, mixing in the studio, etc…
What are your plans for the future?
I have a remix for KCPK that will be out soon on PIAS, and some other releases coming as well.
How did you get into music?
It began when I was a kid, my family have always been into music… Two of my three siblings are professional musicians too, so I guess music was a really strong thing around since I was a small baby…
What are you listening to at the moment?
Screaming Headless Torsos, Dead can Dance, Jaco Pastorius, etc…
Who are your top 5 influences and icons?
It’s hard to say just five names, but some of them could be Mr. Bungle, Aphex Twin, Afrika Bambaataa, James Holden, Goldie, Michael Jackon… Among hundreds of others!
When are you playing next?
June 27 – Mosaic by Maceo at Pacha (Ibiza)
July 01 – Paradigm present – Mathew Dear and Shall Ocin (Chicago).
July 02 – The Roof at OUTPUT (New York)
