Three years since the release of their shambling classic, Mid Thirties Single Scene, Scott & Charlene’s Wedding announce the release of six-track EP When in Rome, Carpe Diem ahead of their performance at Meredith Music Festival this year. The band will also be returning to Adelaide for a hometown performance in the weekend prior to Meredith, saying hello to friends both new and old. First single from the EP ‘Back In The Corner’ was premiered on Triple R’s Breaking And Entering yesterday.
Formed around Craig Dermody, a songwriter who provides you with speed-dial access to his head and his heart, and rooted in 90’s slacker and Flying Nun sounds, Scott & Charlene’s Wedding finally return with their new EP out Friday, November 29.
Six songs full of frank and honest observations about everyday life, ranging from everyday work laughs to coming to terms with the loss of important people in our lives, When in Rome is pure Scott & Charlene’s Wedding – heartfelt and yet tongue-in-cheek, light and dark all at the same.
“Far from being derivative of bands such as Yo La Tengo, Sebadoh and Pavement, the sounds and the lyrics coalesce in a way that makes you think the music found Craig Dermody, rather than him finding the inspiration.” – Soundlab
