Where are you currently based?
I am currently based in a province of Naples.
For those not already familiar with your sound, how would you describe your music genre?
I would say that my music genre is Funky Techno, although I do not limit myself when DJ’ing, and also play other electronic music genres. My production sound is mostly characterised by drum samples and basslines, but in the break of my tracks I often add hypnotic synth sounds.
How did you get into music?
I’ve loved music since I was a child. I started playing piano when I was only 10 years old, then at the age of 15 a friend of mine taught me how to spin vinyl, and a few years later I started producing my own tracks.
Could you talk us through your studio set up, are there any specific bit of equipment you always use?
I have always worked with an Apple MacBook, and use Ableton Live 9 as my core software program. I also have some hardware bits of equipment such as a Korg Minilogue analogue synthesiser, Roland JDXI synthesiser, MK2 Native Instruments Mask, also Allen & Heath Studio Mixer. For audio playback I use a pair of ADAM F5 monitor speakers.
I understand your next EP out on the Unrilis label is a collaborative release with Hollen, have you worked with him before, and how did you first meet?
I’ve known Hollen for a long time, as we live in houses just few meters away from each other in the same city, and when we were younger we DJ’d together at various local festivals and events. Over the years we both became electronic music producers. When we started working together in the studio, it was the same as when we DJ’ed back to back all those years ago, and together we can always invent something cool.
When working with another music artist, could you talk us through the collaborative process?
Actually, I prefer working on music with other artists as I find that team-working creates synergy, and leverages the individual capabilities. Often it also strengthens purpose and instills a sense of focus. Unfortunately I don’t get the chance to work with other electronic music producers that often, and when I do collaborate it’s often with people who live far away in other cities. So in these cases we work on our own then pass the files back and forth via the internet, which is still cool, but not as inspiring as sitting next to each other in the same studio space.
You are still a young artist but already you have achieved so much, to date what’s been the proudest moment of your career?
My work gratifies me every day, but most of all I feel proud of myself when I hear my music played all around the world by big name DJ’s at the forefront of my genre.
Outside of music what are your other interests, and do they influence your sound?
Other than music my biggest passion is playing football. I also enjoy playing tennis and pool. Sports however, do not really affect my sound, as when I play sports I’m just relaxing. For music I look for the inspiration already inside me, and I use my free time to experiment and find ideas, as most importantly I make sure all my tracks sound different from each other.
What do you have lined up after your release on Unrilis, do you have any other forthcoming releases or gigs that we should be on the lookout for?
Actually, I am always working on a track! At the moment I am remixing one of the tracks from the debut album of Uto Karem who is a great artist and friend. That track will be out on his Agile Recordings, and I’m also working on my solo EP for Unrilis, plus soon will be another new collaboration with Hollen.
