What is your name and role within No Label Necessary? My name is Thony Remy and I'm an artist and one half of No Label Necessary. Where are you currently based and what is the music scene like? I'm based in Gold Coast, Creepah is in Sydney. The music scene in both cities and all round Aus has been growing stronger and stronger ever since I've been here (Originally from Brooklyn), it's dope seeing it slowly creep its way up to the forefront.  How did you first start playing music? I started rapping at around 16. My friends and I back in Brooklyn started a group called "Bombsquad". That only lasted a few months as i headed out of the country for uni. How did No Label Necessary form? After a show in Sydney I was with a few artists sharing ideas at a kebab shop. Everything just felt right and we started with a group of 7 artists. After a little while it eventually led to 4 artists in the group du, then to two and we've been riding ever since. What's been happening recently? We've been working on the release of our debut E.P "MIDN9T X" and for all our plans in 2020. What influenced the sound and songwriting for your single Boss It Up? I was inspired by the beat at first. Then hearing Creepah's intro gave me goosebumps. I really wanted to do something special to it. Around that time frame I was playing a lot of Joyner Lucas, Eminem and Tory Lanez for inspiration. How did you go about writing Boss It Up? After playing around with the beat and freestyling a few things I found my rhythm. It was all magic after that. Where and when did you record? We recorded our whole MIDN9T X E.P in Sydney with MixedbyEspa a few months back. What programs/instruments did you use and who did you work with? We mostly use Protools for everything we do. You have a video coming out for Boss It Up on the 3rd of October, I hear that you collaborated with iiiConic to produce the video, how did the collab come about? The collab came out great. IiiConic was super easy to work with, once we knew what we wanted it was a green light from there. Please tell us about the video production and how the concept came about? We definitely wanted to do something different from the norm. We wanted to make it like an event or almost like a scene from a movie. After a little look around we were hugely inspired by the Mad Max theme and thought it would be nuts to shoot something in that category. Once we had the concept we hit up team member and videographer Kyle Watson and started the organising of cast, locations, props and everything else. What did you find most challenging and rewarding throughout the creation on the video? One of the challenges we faced was Creepah's early morning flight getting cancelled by bad weather. The next available flight was 2 hours into the shoot at night which he managed to get the last seat, so we had to do what we could to prepare and shoot what we could and prepare for a Plan B if he couldn't make it. There was over 50 people there from make up artists, safety advisors, stunt people, best believe we were stressing. What do you like to do away from music? I like to work on video/film projects with the team. We do alot of skits, and short videos that we release on our Youtube. Who are you listening to at the moment? At the moment I'm listening to a group from the U.S called Francis And The Lights. What's planned for the remainder of 2019 going into 2020? We will be releasing our E.P before the end of the year then 2020 we will be focusing on expanding NLN as a brand. Favourite food and place to hangout? Gotta be Italian food. I love a good old fish pasta. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jC2aiCDLnmE&feature=youtu.be  https://www.facebook.com/nolabelnecessary/  https://www.instagram.com/nolabelnecessarynln1/  https://twitter.com/nlnecessary?lang=en
