MUSELESS

by the partae

What is your name and role within the band?

Museless is my own music and artistic project. My real name is Laura Llopart. I compose the songs, I produce it, sing and write it and I do the mix hand to hand with Aleix Iglesias the studio producer of my record label. Finally, he make the final master.

In the stage, sometimes there are a guitarist with me, Toni, He add some arrengaments with the guitar and violin.

How did you start?

When I was a child, I liked to improvise the classical piano songs that the teacher proposed to me. I started playing the piano when I was 5 years old, more or less, then I continued doing my musical experiments with my home piano. I put a recorder under the piano and recorded several pieces of music until I was able to buy a midi piano, which allowed me to translate the midi notes and transform it into several instruments. My beginnings usually consisted in sharing my tracks for urban art documentaries and small clips of my friends. But when I finished my degree (physician), I realized that I wanted to do something more personal. Museless was born in 2016.

Please give an example of your music writing process?

I was born in Catalonia (spain), and nowadays I am still there.

What is your gear setup?

I use several midi controllers synchronized with my computer via Ableton live. I also use some keyboard synthesizers like Nord Stage or MiniNova and voice looper (Boss).

What do you like to do outside of music and does it affect your music?

This is an interesting question. I usualy say that my music are not influenced by another music or another musicians, but it is influenced by my experiences, travels, films, relationships, political actuality, pictures, canvas, dancers, and I think that this is shown in my work.

How would you describe your music genre?

I don’t able to describe my own work in an analytical way. I like to read what the musicologists think about.

Do you know any music theory?

Yes, of course, as I said, I studied classical piano when I was a child, I also studied singing and solfeo.  When I finished my university studies in medicine I went back to studying piano but this time modern theory. In terms of musical production and synthesis, it has been totally self-taught.

What are your plans for the future?

I would like to keeping this energetic dynamic in the music locus. And also, I would like to go outside of my country and show my work there, I suspect that my music may like outside my country, too.

How did you get into music?

Life has brought me to this destination.

What are you listening to at the moment?

Just in this moment, I am in my garden, and now it’s the automatic watering time, so I’m listening the drops of water falling on the grass.

Who are your top 5 influences and icons?

Maybe it will sound despotic, but I have no icons or idols, But I appreciate the Björk work and Sigur Ros, Kraftwerk, Jean-Michel Jarre, Alba Noto, for example.

When are you playing next?

Oh! Right now I’m still recovering from playing at Primavera Sound, but the following concerts are already starting next week, all for my country. I can announce some upcoming festivals like Embassa’t, Festus, Musik’n Viu, Trueno Rayo Fest, and I hope I can announce many more soon.

My performances:

I always try to make my concerts an audiovisual experience, not just an album concert, so I always try to work with artists from other disciplines, visuals, dancers, etc. We prepared a show to be remembered, this is the idea.
