Australia’s Middle Kids return to North America this fall, for an extensive headline tour peppered with appearances at Austin City Limits, Life Is Beautiful, and Bumbershoot festivals. All dates below, with tickets to new shows on sale this Friday, May 19.

The September tour follows on from a smattering of August dates, including Lollapalooza, Mo Pop, and a one-off show opening for Sylvan Esso at Celebrate Brooklyn in Prospect Park.

US audiences were last treated to Middle Kids in March of this year, when the band tore through the country, winning hearts at each and every show. That tour, which took in SXSW and a sold-out Baby’s All Right, also saw the band make their late night TV debut on ‘Conan’; perform sessions with KCRWand KEXP; and record a 4-song session for Sirius XMU. The full Sirius XMU session premieres tonight, Wednesday May 17th, on SiriusXM, and in advance of the airing, we are pleased to share a cover of Car Seat Headrest’s ‘Fill In The Blank,’ as performed by Middle Kids’ Hannah Joy, exclusively for Sirius XMU.

The band’s debut single, ‘Edge Of Town,’ continues its ascent at alternative radio, picking up new adds from SiriusXM Alt Nation, WWCD, KRBZ, WEQX, and KRXF, in addition to the continued support from Sirius XMU. ‘Edge of Town’ has now been streamed almost 7 million times on Spotify.

Led by singer-songwriter-guitarist Hannah Joy, with Tim Fitz (producer and multi-instrumentalist), and Harry Day (drums) rounding out the team, Middle Kids combine echoes of the infamous female-fronted indie rock bands of the 90s and early 2000s, like Sleater-Kinney, The Breeders, and Belly, with thoroughly modern production and a deep love and respect of the songwriting process. The band’s anthemic sound is a combination of hooky tune craft, ripping Music Row-inspired slide guitar leads, and soaring melodic vocals. Middle Kids shine especially bright live, where an added gear takes them from 0 to 60 in quiet-to-loud dynamics with hair-raising emotional impact. There’s a contagious joy to this new band – wide-eyed and optimistic, but with an emotional rawness that touches the nerve of even the first-time listener.

“Heartfelt, clever ruminations at the intersection of indie rock and alt-country” – ROLLING STONE

“the sort of tracks that seem simple on the surface but reveal new flashes of brilliance with each pass, often in the form of an artfully slashing guitar riff or a passionately bellowed vocal from lead singer Hannah Joy.” – STEREOGUM

“Hannah’s voice is a little Stevie Nicksie and the jangly guitars sound like they’re lifted from an interstitial scene in Singles, but you know sometimes you hear a song and you just like it.” – NOISEY
