The fashion and culture here is fairly cool. Lots of cool events/parties etc, I honestly fucking love Melbourne. It has the right amount of everything you’d ever need.
I honestly LOVE to travel, and there’s always something that I love in every new place I go. I’ve been to Asia quite a bit, and I think it’s great. I’ve spent quite a bit of time in Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia, and learnt a lot about the culture and music scenes while there. I try to explore whenever I’m out of Melbourne, I LOVE to go on adventures.
It’s available everywhere! Beatport, iTunes, Soundcloud, Spotify…
So I just produce from my studio at my house. There was nothing recorded live for this track, and it was a collab with my good friend SWARM from Florida, so we just exchanged the track stems online to make it.
For this song in particular, I was actually kind of influenced by Resident Evil. I LOVE the game, love the movies. I’ve always been drawn to more ‘creepy’ things, and I like to portray that dark element in my music. I had an idea for something dark and energetic, and when I sent the idea to SWARM he was on the exact same wavelength and it just all kind of smoothly came together. This is probably my darkest release yet, and I’m definitely keen to keep going down this path of ‘dark house’.
I love to listen to lots of music. Recently I’ve been listening to Hans Zimmer (he’s probably my favourite human on the planet) again, as well a lot of bands. I love electronic music, but I don’t actually listen to it all that often. My recent listening includes music from Bring Me The Horizon, The Cure, The Prodigy, Mansions, Citizen, Eric Prydz…
Yep! I’m very excited for this one, I’ve been waiting ages to release it. It comes out on a US label Pinnacle Collective who I LOVE working with. ‘Burn’ was essentailly influenced by fire and sex. By themes of sensuality and passion – and to me fire/burning represents passion. It’s dark, kind of sensual, slow, and maybe even a tiny bit creepy in the breaks.
A bit of everything. Images, colours (like I mentioned above), sometimes I’ll read something – like a poem, and it’ll give me an idea. Art, and of course music. I usually get influenced or develop ideas from genres of music that are very separate to what I actually make.
Yep! With someone who I consider a friend now, who is also one of my biggest inspirations for my music, and also one of my favourite producers. I won’t say who it is, but I’m really fucking excited. The track is nearly finished and it sounds so so so sick. It’ll be big.
It’s an idea I’ve had in my head for years. I read a poem that had a line ‘tell the wolves I’m home’, and it was about being an alpha and not following the masses. I wanted to create a magazine/creative space to create and support. For The Wolves HQ is my new baby, it’s a blog/online mag, in early stages right now but I have some BIG plans for it. It’s essentially a space for music, fashion, photography, and just creativity in general. We’ll publish anything we think is cool. There’s swearing, and there’s boobs. The motto is ‘we’re for the wolves’, not the sheep’ – meaning we’re for the alphas, the go-getters, the trend setters, the people who aren’t scared to do something different or stand out.
Yeah, it’s been absolute hell but I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. I actually have a Bachelor of Fashion Design from Whitehouse Institute, so I’ve been wanting to do some kind of label, but I wasn’t sure quite what to do until about 2 years ago, and I woke up one night and the whole idea was just in my head. It’s been a long process of re-designing, figuring out what I want the brand to represent, and changing factories, but I shoot the campaign in 3-4 weeks, and it’ll be launching before the end of the year.
I just keep the concept behind Bad Wolf in my mind at all times when designing. Bad Wolf is about self-love, and also being a bad bitch. It’s about loving your body and feeling sexy exactly as you are. No padding, no underwear that sucks your stomach in, just sheer fabric and your body exactly as it is. And that should be enough to make anyone feel like they’re sexy as hell. It’s minimal, sheer, and definitely sexy. I have a moodboard of inspo images – mainly of women who I think represent the concept of ‘Bad Wolf’, it’s also got a bunch of images from the 90’s.
I just want to grow it as much as possible to begin with. It’ll also double up as my ‘merch’ for me as a DJ. I’ll be introducing other pieces – like some tops, dresses and accessories that align with the lingerie pieces. It’s an open concept, it’s certainly going to be more than just lingerie.. who knows where I’ll take it.
I come from a family of heavy gamers, so yes I am haha. I grew up with two older brothers who were HUGE nerds, and quite easily converted me to the dark side. Even my mum is a gamer (she will legitimately kick anyone’s ass I know on Diablo/Starcraft). I just love games. I find them exciting, stimulating, and extremely fun. I also can attribute me passing history in year 11 thanks to Age Of Empires II.
I find gaming to probably be the most fun thing in the world. You play characters, stories and scenarios that are just SO different from actual life. I think a big appeal for people with games is that it’s like a form of escaping reality for a while. You can be running around a temple in a tunic playing Zelda, or killing zombies in COD, or trying to figure out where the fuck your stupid girlfriend is who runs into a VERY messed up/haunted house in Resident Evil. I love that, and I play a wide variety of games.
I got scouted when I was around 16-ish I think? I started shooting, loved it, then hated it and developed some serious body insecurities for a while. Got back into it a few years later – I did a heap of super commercial jobs like bridal etc, and eventually as my brand developed as an artist I decided I wanted to pull back from that stuff and shoot things that I actually wanted to, and sometimes in my own way. So I still do commercial jobs, but mostly for brands I actually do like, and I love getting sent things and creating the content/shooting the pieces my way too.
Just launching my lingerie label, working on For The Wolves HQ – a lot of exciting stuff coming very soon!, and grinding away on music. With the things that I do – my plate is never empty. I can always be working on more music, I can always be looking for new people to interview for For The Wolves, and my mind is always ticking with possibilities for Bad Wolf. I’m announcing a new tour shortly to finish the year off, and next year will be an extremely busy year for me. I don’t sleep much as it is luckily, and so far can function fairly normally.
Hmmm favourite place to hang out… I like Brunswick area. I like Naked For Satan, and I like discovering small weird bars with cool music. A few weeks ago I went to Cherry Bar in the city with one of my best friends, and they just played rock and metal all night. I think that night in particular was a Nirvana tribute night, so I’ll definitely be going back there.
