What is your name and role within Los Pinguos?
My name is Adrian Buono, I’m the lead singer and guitar player of Los Pinguos.
How did you start?
We started the band in Buenos Aires , Argentina, where we are from, in 1999.
Where are you based?
We live in Los Angeles since 2001.
Please give an example of your music writing process?
About our songs, we compose and write, the process is simple, we work together Jose Agote and me, Jose writes most of the lyrics and we both work on the music, sometimes music comes first and then the lyrics and sometimes we just do the music ona nice lyric.
What are you working on right now?
Right now we are recording new songs and making videos also of the new material. We als are working for Playing for Change.
What is your gear setup?
Our set up now on stage is 2 spanish guitars, 1 bass, a keyboard player and a drum machine, we all sing.
What do you like to do outside of music and does it affect your music?
When we don’t do music we play soccer 3 times a week, we do barbecues with friends.
How would you describe your music genre?
I think that our style would be called “world music” we do songs in diferent styles but with our own and unique sound.
Do you know any music theory?
I study in a Conservatory of music and also in a university of music in Buenos Aires.
What are your plans for the future?
The future for me is now, I honestly do not think much about that but I would love to travel around the world playing with Los Pinguos and spread out our music.
What are you listening to at the moment?
I listen a lot of music when I drive, classic rock mostly.
Who are your top 5 influences and icons?
My favorits bands and singers are, The Beatles , The Rolling Stones, Cesaria Evora, Gipsy Kings, Led Zeppelin, etc.
When are you playing next?
We have a little tour next week in northern California, after that we play everywhere around Los Angeles, we are pretty bussy.
