KITA ALEXANDER UNVEILS MOVING VIDEO FOR HOTEL
Directed and shot on location in Byron by frequent behind-the-lens Kita collaborator Ashley Schumann, Hotel captures the emotional connection of two sisters. The song, a deeply personal dedication to Kita’s late sister Natassja Claire Alexander has been a mainstay of the Australian Spotify Top 200, not budging since its entry in May.
Of the video, Kita says: “Feels like forever ago I began my Hotel journey. There was no doubt in my mind that I wanted a sister love-story line to play out in my video for Hotel. I took this idea to one of my best friends who is also an amazing creative director. She knew exactly how to visually explore the relationship I had with my sister, perfectly. These movies I have in my mind of my sister and I together were never filmed in real life, so to be able to re-create the memories and be able to live them whenever I watch the video, is really special to me. Thank you to everyone who supported the process.
And thank you to my sister for living life to its fullest and always having fun no matter where or when, appropriate or inappropriate haha. Love k xx”
At only 21 years old, Kita’s atmospheric synth-pop sound ensured that debut EP Like You Want gathered a huge amount of attention, and outlets like The Guardian, NME and i-D were quick to notice. Her two singles, My Own Way and Like You Want To, have been listened to over4 and a half million times on Spotify alone and found support in the UK from the likes of Radio 1 very early on. Another standout from her first offering, Plain Sight, has proven itself as a track that really resonates with the masses, accumulating over 21 million plays to date.
