Where are you currently based?
I am currently based in Geelong but do quite a bit of work in Melbourne.
How did you first start playing music?
In 2017 at the end of my year 12, I started to record my voice over free beats from YouTube, and I have always loved music so that was a good starting point for me. I then went to university to study a Bachelor of Music Production, because I wanted to be more independent in producing the music myself and that was the best thing I’ve ever done.
What’s been happening recently?
Lately I have been working on more music, getting there slowly, always revising on tracks that I have created making sure they are perfect, it always takes a lot of time in trying to make everything sound crisp. I also recently started a new university degree, studying Audio Engineering so been doing that and working on music.
Your new single ‘I Don’t Wanna Die’ is out now, what influenced the sound and songwriting?
At the time of starting to create this track I had been listening to quite a lot of songs with orchestral instruments and I always love how epic and rich the instruments always sound, so I began to write a few chords for it and layed it down with some virtual violins and cellos. And just loved how it sounded, I worked around the orchestral instruments and added the drums and piano and the other key parts of the track. The sound overall was strong and I wanted to have darker lyrics than what the instrumental was and I loved how the project sounded in the end.
How did you go about writing I Don’t Wanna Die?
With most of my tracks, I like to create the instrumental first then work on the lyrics and fit it to the beat. It is easier that way for me, and I know others do it differently. With my lyrics I usually base the situation loosely around myself and my life but writing for this song was a challenge as I wanted to focus more on a bigger theme than what I am used to.
Where and when did you record/produce/master and who with?
Back in August 2020 I recorded the track at my home and produced it all myself, instrumental, vocal and all. It was only a few months ago where I kept working on it and finally believed the track was fully finished. I mixed and mastered the song myself.
How did you approach the recording process?
When starting this track, I was on my last trimester of my university degree we had to create a few tracks for many assignments and that forced me to be able to create a track that I would then use for a proper release. Recording the instrumental was a lot easier than recording my vocals, it took me a lot longer to record the vocals then I wanted to, for most of it I couldn’t get it to sound right and had to keep restarting and that was a pain. I got everything right in the end and am very happy with the final product.
What do you like to do away from music?
Away from music I love to watch tv shows and movies, reading books and playing video games.
Who are you listening to at the moment?
Just in the last few weeks I have been listening to Lil Nas X, as I like to get some of my style from him, there is also Parcels, who I adore and love their harmonies and instrumentals and been releasing new music lately.
What’s planned for the remainder of 2021 going into 2022?
For 2021 I am going to promote this track as much as I can and still work on making new music. For 2022 I am wanting to release an EP or album on tracks that I have done previously and fine tune them for release.
Favourite food and place to hangout?
My favourite food would have to be pizza and I love hanging out at pubs where I can hear DJ’s play their music or see bands perform.
