KEELAN MAK ANNOUNCES THE RELEASE OF DEBUT EP ‘Test The Shallows’ (out Sep 27) with new single “Sleep Talker” (out today) + is supporting Thomston on tour this September
Emerging from the smoky late nights of Brisbane’s humid streets, Keelan Mak is a singer, songwriter, and producer creating a unique and sultry palette of electronic sounds.
Combining a blissful intoxicating song writing style with lush atmospheric production, Keelan seamlessly blends indie and electronic genres and combines them with his smooth, honeyed, emotional vocals and heartfelt personal storytelling.
Today, Keelan Mak announces the forthcoming release of his debut EP ‘Test The Shallows’ which will be released digitally on September 27th, and also reveals new single “Sleep Talker“, a melancholic disco track which plays with garage house influences, woozy layers of synth and beats, and smooth vocal toplines.
“Sleep Talker” came out of a writing session just after BIGSOUND last year. Co-written with Melbourne artist Maribelle in a burst of creativity, the song came together in only a few hours and draws from Keelan’s personal experience in a relationship where the only honest communication was in their most vulnerable state; Sleep Talking.
“We obviously exaggerated the concept… I wasn’t sleep talking with them, but there were definitely a lot of moments where we only got honest when the lights were off and we we’re talking in bed. The whole relationship felt very sleepy and sedated at times which fit the theme perfectly.” – Keelan Mak
Co-produced by Keelan himself along with Sydney artist/producer Mookhi, new single “Sleep Talker” will be available digitally worldwide on August 15th, and will feature on Keelan Mak’s upcoming debut EP ‘Test The Shallows’ which will be released on September 27th.
“She [Mookhi] really brought life to the song and a lot of subtle nuances that I couldn’t do myself.”
Keelan Mak will also be supporting Thomston on tour! Come and sad dance to Keelan live in Sydney, Brisbane, and Melbourne at the following dates:
Thurs 19 September – The Lansdowne Hotel, Sydney NSW
Fri 20 September – Workers Club, Melbourne VIC
Sun 22 September – Black Bear Lodge, Brisbane QLD
