Where are you currently based and what is the music scene like there?
I’m currently based in Mollymook NSW, there isn’t really a huge music scene there, but it connects up to Wollongong and the amazing community of festivals and concerts in that area.
How did you first start playing music?
When I was 4 I started learning the violin, then piano, then wrote my first song at 9 or so about a farm being developed into blocks of land.
What have you been up to lately?
Swimming, working, writing, working on the next chapter of Jack River.
Who are you listening to at the moment?
Who or what influences you sound and songwriting?
Honestly, everything, but: my heart influences songwriting, and how I feel about the world influences the production and sound I wanna make.
You’re playing Grapevine Gathering this November, what do you have in store for these run of shows?
We will very likely have some brand new music to give audiences, along with a list of the best songs from Sugar Mountain. The sounds I’m making are changing, I’m excited to see how they play out live.
How do you prepare for each live show?
Preparation for shows involves a couple of days of rehearsal with the band and production team, thought and planning on styling and imagery, preparing physically (running, chilling, swimming), and then travelling to the show and staying healthy along the way. Being a singer means your body is the instrument, so I stay pretty aware of that and don’t drink alcohol for a week or two in preparation for shows too!
What makes these run of shows to special?
Playing outside in places outside of the city is very special.
When you’re not playing music what do you like to do?
I work fulltime on my music business, and direct two music festivals (Grow Your Own & Electric Lady). Along with these things, I love to write, surf, swim, read the paper on a Saturday and keep up to date with the planet haha.
What do you have planned for the remainder of 2019?
Working on my next release and festivals, hanging out with my new pup and learning more!
Any secrets that you ?
Hmm, a music related secret is that I am extremely excited to share a whole new chapter and realm of music/vision with my audience.
Favourite food and place to hangout?
Raspberries are my favourite thing at the moment haha, and home, by the sea, is my favourite place to hang out ; )
