Alternative pop artist Isabel Wood has today released her new single ‘Ghost 3am’ with support from MGM Distribution. The track was produced by industry heavyweight Xavier Dunn in his Sydney studio and comes as a swift follow-up to her previous single Sunburn, which has currently gained over 45,000 streams.
Ghost 3am is a heartbreaking open letter to a person from Isabel’s past who lied, cheated and made her feel worthless. Speaking about the track, Isabel said, “Ghost 3am is by far the most vulnerable song I’ve ever written, which was scary at first, but it has also turned out to be my favourite. I think a lot of people will be able to relate to it.” A notable point of the song comes in the second verse, which introduces the expressive backing vocals of Xavier Dunn. When asked about this inclusion, Isabel said, “Xavier’s vocals were a great way to help tell the story from a male perspective. Toxic relationships affect both men and women alike and it was important to me that I reflected that in the song.” Despite the pain and emotion explored throughout Ghost 3am, the track ultimately delivers a positive message of strength and self-worth through its empowering chorus, which describes the moment that Isabel finds the courage to break away from the relationship.
Ghost 3am is the second song of Isabel’s to have recently been produced by Xavier Dunn – the ARIA-nominated virtuoso who has worked with countless high-calibre artists including Peking Duk, Jack River, GRAACE, CXLOE and LANKS. Their first collaboration, Sunburn, has today received over 45,000 streams and gained airplay on several commercial stations including Hit105, KIIS1065, Hot 91.1 and 91.9 Sea FM.
The Queensland Government and Sunshine Coast Council both contributed funding towards the production of Ghost 3am via the Regional Arts Development Fund. The Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) is a partnership between the Queensland Government and Sunshine Coast Council to support local arts and culture in regional Queensland.
