Melbourne-based indie-electronic duo HyperFlora have just unveiled their stunning debut track ‘Greta Oto’ ft. Rahel, member of Billy Davis and The Good Lords – mixed by Tristan Hoogland(Golden Vessel, Touch Sensitive, Woodes).
‘Greta Oto’ is a dreamy melting pot of hip-hop, indie-electronic and alternative-pop. Distant piano, brooding flute and flickers of samples play under the mesmerising blend of vocals, before its slinky bass and beats work their way into the mix. The two producers navigate the remainder of the track with the utmost precision, as dynamics duck and weave unconventionally, keeping listeners on the edge of their seat.
HyperFlora is made up of songwriters and producers Johnny Polhe and Josh Yardy. Since their inception in 2018, the group have been crafting a distinctive sound that melds a series of eclectic genres, while continuing to explore different song writing styles and production techniques to further evolve their sound.
HyperFlora explain the meaning behind the song:
“A ‘Greta Oto’ is a butterfly with transparent wings. Creating this track we had this idea of using both the transparency and the butterfly itself as a metaphor. The track is a message to ourselves reminding us to stay transparent with the true essence of who we are. “Let your light shine”. If we remove the bad parts of our ego we transform into the best version of ourselves just like a butterfly’s metamorphosis”.
Sitting on a full album of songs, the pair are gearing towards a busy year as they plan to launch the project in multiple cities across Australia.
In the coming weeks HyperFlora will reveal an accompanying music video for ‘Greta Oto’.
