Where are you currently based and what is the music scene like there?
I’m based in Parramatta Sydney. It’s safe to say that there is no music scene here, the closest thing to music here is the cars with holes in the exhaust making the loudest noise ever and making every single dog in the area have a panic attack.
Where were you born and raised and how has that influenced your music?
I was born in Baghdad Iraq and raised in Cairo Egypt. That influenced my music by exposing me to different sounds I guess and the bottled-up pain everyone there got allows me to organically vent on my tracks.
How did you first start rapping?
I watched 8 mile (RIP Brittany Murphy) and was like wow I really want to do that
What’s been happening recently?
Not much, I have been studying and working long shifts.
Your new single ‘It’s Ok Not To Be Ok’ is out now, what influenced the sound and song writing for this track?
I sent my producer a bunch of soundtracks I was feeling (Interstellar) and told him that I’m really feeling the sound of MuraMassa and Snakehips and Mø. So he sent me the skeleton of the beat and we started building on it.
How did you go about writing this single?
I start with coming up with punchlines then once I got good ones, I start writing my set ups. I was driving to work and I had the beat on repeat in the car and I came up with “though all the pieces are falling it’s ok not to be ok” and I had to park and write that down because I have the worst short term memory and I always forget lines I come up with. Then I built the whole song on that line.
Where and when did you record and who with?
I recorded this at my home studio, I have a sE Electronics sE Z5600a and I run it through a Focusrite scarlett.
I called my mate Sean Candler and was like “hey, you know how to use logic pro X pretty well, can you come record my vocals at my place?” He welcomed the idea. He showed up and we started recording then noticed that the battery in my smoke alarm was low, so it kept beeping. Therefore, we had to do 209090 takes and just choose the ones without the beeping sound in the background.

What’s planned for the remainder of 2019?
Oh I’m planning on Baring everyone out! Dropping 2 tracks that consist of nothing but bars! I think it’s time to solidify my spot as a lyricist and not just a guy with catchy choruses and punchlines
