It is with much pleasure that Liberation release Husky’s third studio record, Punchbuzz.

Recorded in Melbourne with producer Matt Redlich, the captivating sound of Punchbuzz is of a band re-birthed, having drawn upon new inspirations to deliver their most exciting and experimental record yet.

“We’ve been working on Punchbuzz for the last year now and we’ve had a blast making this record. It hasn’t always been easy, but it’s always felt right. We’re proud of these songs and we’ve loved the adventure. Finally, people can hear it. It’s a sweet feeling.” – Husky Gawenda

Punchbuzz illustrates a new global sound for the duo, which is sure to thrill loyal listeners as well as earn new ones. The nocturnal life of a year on the road influenced its late-night feels, with moody soundscapes working in perfect harmony with pulsing indie rock. Pair that with Husky’s surreal visual lyricism and once the final track concludes you’ll feel like you’ve woken from a particularly lucid dream. Punchbuzz follows on from 2011’s breakthrough debut Forever So (released internationally via SubPop) and 2014’s stellar sophomore Ruckers Hill.

“I tend to do a lot of my writing at night. There’s something about the night time, something happens when the sun goes down. Reason and logic depart, magic and mystery arrive.”

Punchbuzz has already struck a loving chord with critics and fans alike, who are applauding the record’s compelling songwriting and psychedelic alt-pop sounds. Lead single ‘Late Night Store’ reached high rotation on triple j and has now amassed 3 million streams across Spotify and Apple Music, featuring on massive playlists locally and internationally. Follow up single ‘Ghost’ was introduced by CLASH Magazine in the UK – whilst LA’s KCRW jumped on board to premiere the Day of the Dead themed video, which was recently praised on tech site Gizmodo for its innovative animation.  Punchbuzz has been the feature album this week on Double J and adoring reviews are flowing in.

✭✭✭✭ “Tough indie-rock dashed with psychedelic synth shimmer, Punchbuzz is a surprise package full of new sonic detours” – The Music

“Everything Husky put their name against feels incredibly assured” – CLASH

“A wonderfully moody shift into atmospheric indie rock that serves as the perfect next step for the accomplished duo” – Tone Deaf

“Husky step away from their folk roots towards a propulsive rock sound without breaking stride” – Music Feeds

“Underneath the saturation of dreamy synths and keyboards, Husky’s songwriting skills are still highly discernible” – 4ZZZ

Husky are sharing a series of live performance videos filmed at the Elsternwick Mansion to celebrate the record’s release. The upbeat and infectious ‘Shark Fin’ was premiered by Tone Deaf this week and it’s an exciting window into what we can expect from their forthcoming shows.
