HOCKEY DAD SELL OUT NATIONAL ALBUM TOUR; ANNOUNCE EXTRA SHOWS
Presented by triple j; Tickets on sale now
Listen to New Single ‘I Wanna Be Everybody’
After selling out their national album tour, and extra dates in Brisbane in Melbourne all within 24 hours, Hockey Dad have announced they’ll be adding further dates to each stop, including all ages and under 18s shows. The band also dropped their latest single ‘I Wanna Be Everybody’, premiering on Good Nights with triple j, the latest taste of anticipated second album Blend Inn, out Friday, February 9 on Farmer & The Owl via Inertia Music. Tickets are available now via hockeydadband.com.
Visiting capital cities this March, with Boat Show and Dear Seattle in tow, the 14 date, triple j presented tour will be the first time fans of all ages get to experience Blend Inn live. The band will be playing to full houses across Australia, including twice at The Metro Theatre in Sydney, four shows each in Melbourne’s The Corner Hotel and The Woolly Mammoth in Brisbane, plus two shows in each The Gov in Adelaide and Badlands in Perth.
‘I Wanna Be Everybody’ emerges as the infectious and surprisingly vulnerable pop-rock song that Summer was missing. On the track, Hockey Dad navigate themes of social anxiety amid the charged riffs, ever-confident vocals and punk-styled drums for which they’ve become synonymous. The single joins lead track and instant favourite ‘Homely Feeling’ on Blend Inn, and is set to have band rooms across the country united in a chorus of “I wanna be everybody, everybody / I just can’t be everybody, everybody”.
Where their 2016 debut album Boronia celebrated the long days of summers past and the sublime naivety of youth, Blend Inn is Zach Stephenson and Billy Fleming coming to us with more perspective after relentless touring took them far from the streets and waves of their hometown of Windang, NSW. 2017 saw them embark on sold-out national and regional tours, support Grinspoon for 25 dates, tour alongside Dune Rats and Wavves, and secure slots at Falls Festival Lorne and Splendour In The Grass. They toured New Zealand, Europe, the UK and most recently the US and Canada, showcasing at SXSW, headlining shows, and playing in iconic sold-out rooms in support of The Frights such as Bowery Ballroom in New York, Lincoln Hall in Chicago and The Observatory in LA. Totalling an impressive 107 performances across 2017, they wrapped up with a final headline show to a sold-out, 250 strong crowd at LA’s Bootleg Theatre.
Now, the two have returned to their piece of paradise which inspired the lyrics of ‘Homely Feeling’, recharged and ready to showcase the new material via their even-sharper live presence, before crossing the pond again in May for a headline show at The Lexington in London.
‘I Wanna Be Everybody’ is available on all platforms now. Blend Inn is available for pre-order now on all formats including limited edition coloured vinyl..
