“Cheeky, catchy and bursting with energy. There’s no beating around the bush here!” – Bridget Hustwaite, Triple J
“Heavily driven by guitar, doused in obnoxious drum bashing and covered in vocals produced by one very assertive set of lungs, these indie-rock rebels are called Hey Baby! and their message is clear.” – Happy Mag
Bold, blistering and bursting at the seams, ‘LoveandDrugs’ from Brisbane’s HeyBaby! is high octane party punk at its finest.
The first glimpse of their forthcoming second EP, ‘Love and Drugs’ is full throttle from the get-go. Gritty guitar riffs and fierce drums crash without hesitation, a reminder that this was made for the mosh. Previously compared to the likes of DuneRats and Skegss, their fast paced surf punk ferocity is matched with an array of infectious melodies and singalong lyrics which show-off the band’s playful and tongue-in-cheek energy brilliantly.
“Sharing memories and substances. Sharing come ups and comedowns. Sharing beauty and inelegance. It’s a whirlwind of a song that attempts to capture the intensity and unpredictability of ‘Love and Drugs’,” singer KacperMajchrowski explains.
Making waves both as avid surfers, and as a band, Hey Baby! have been carving a name for themselves since the release of their debut single ‘1800-WEED’, seeing spins on triple j and triple j Unearthed alongsidepraise on the likes of Pilerats, HappyMag and HysteriaMagazine. Going on to support genre heavyweights like PressClub, Totty, DearSeattle and Crocodylus, the band have also performed at Brisbane tastemaker festivals such as The Mountain Goat Valley Crawl and Halloween Hysteria.
With plenty of new music around the corner, open up that mosh pit, and dive on into Hey Baby!’s exciting new single.
