Harry James Angus Announces “Flicker” Launch Dates

Harry James Angus, Australia’s premiere jazz trumpeter/vocalist and member of internationally renowned, home grown roots pop ensemble The Cat Empire has announced two special shows in Melbourne and Sydney to launch his latest solo single “Flicker.”

The singer, riding high on a wave of interest for his theme song Big Big Sound written for fledgling AFL side and premiership contenders Greater Western Sydney, takes the deeper, darker jazz hues of his brand new work to the stage giving fans a chance to hear for the first time what is shaping to be the most realized and assured work of his career so far.

The seam that flows through all of Harry’s work is the constant re-invention of music into unrecognisable forms. His new work takes the raw intensity, chaos and exploratory power that has helped make The Cat Empire such an incandescent live experience, but redirects it towards a darker, more weirdly beautiful universe. A universe inspired by artists like Nina Simone, Van Morrison, Antony & The Johnsons and John Coltrane.

To launch “Flicker” Harry will be performing two headline shows in November.  Wednesday 6^th at Sydney’s Giant Dwarf Theatre and Thursday Nov 28^th at Melbourne’s Howler. Featuring a who’s who of Australia’s greatest instrumentalists in the one band makes Harry’s shows always a mesmerizing display of virtuosic talent and raw power.
