GRINDING EYES ANNOUNCE NEW ALBUM & RELEASE SINGLE / VIDEO "UNTIL IT FALLS APART"

Sydney psych-rock band Grinding Eyes have released their dark new single/video “Until It Falls Apart” lifted from their forthcoming album, Taste The Monochrome, out May 14 via Poison City Records. “Until It Falls Apart” is also available as part of a limited edition split 7-inch single with Tumbleweed, out now through seminal label Tym Records.

“Until It Falls Apart” is a sinister slice of psych-rock infused with shoegaze and wrapped in a blanket of darkness. Perfectly capturing the feeling of chaotic despair when life spirals out of control, long past the point of no return, the video is a psychedelic trip through the depths of collapse.

Frontman Matt Wicks explains: “‘Until It Falls Apart’ was written on the road in the US. I was constantly moving, thinking about how to capture that feeling when one’s life falls apart, you know – even in slow motion – you’re being self-destructive and you can see disaster on the horizon, but you still can’t control the dark feelings rising within you like you might spin you wildly out of control and there’s nothing you can do.”

Hailing from Sydney, Grinding Eyes came together after late night impromptu jams and shares members with past and present bands such as The Mess HallTreatmentThe LaurelsThe Holy Soul and Kimono Drag Queens. Over the years they’ve racked up the kilometres, touring all over the world with legendary bands Jesus and Mary ChainSwervedriverDinosaur JrMudhoneyDMA’sThe DronesKing Gizzard and stacks more.

Grinding Eyes second album, Taste The Monochrome, came together during the quiet of 2020. A uniquely dark yet driving experience, Taste The Monochrome is a journey through themes of love, loss, isolation, despair and time travel, set to an ominous soundtrack of psych-rock and shoegaze bound together with luscious atmospherics.

Taste The Monochrome was pre-produced with engineer Jim Diamond (Dirt bombs / White Stripes) and recorded at Goliath Studios in Sydney with Owen Penglis (Straight Arrows). The album was mixed by Evan Foster (Boss Martians Iggy Pop / Dirty Sidewalks) and mastered by Ed Brooks (Death Cab For Cutie / Fleet Foxes).

Grinding Eyes will debut Taste The Monochrome live with an extensive run of tour dates along the East Coast in April and May.
