GOOD BOY
Share new video for ‘1972 VW Superbug’ On tour now – Melbourne & Sydney this week!
Good Boy have today shared with us their self-produced video for ‘1972 VW Superbug’. The song is a nostalgic sprawler, exploring regional life via bored late-nights in their hometown of Bundaberg, Queensland. Rarely does a punk band write with such romanticism. The track is the third single from their brilliant EP Shirk Life, released November 10 via Barely Dressed Records.
“We made this video from footage collected every time we returned to our home town of Bundaberg, Queensland over the past two years” said drummer Stu McKenzie (who also filmed and edited the clip).“Not much has changed in the six years since we moved. When we go back, the memories that the song (1972 VW Superbug) talks about are conjured all over again.”

Shirk Life is a political snapshot of living in Brisbane in your early 20’s from one of Australia’s most exciting young punk bands. The EP’s first track ‘A Waste Of 122 Million Dollars (Taxpayer Funded)’ spits a self-explanatory message about the absurd and insulting marriage equality plebiscite. Similarly,‘Fishing With A Shotgun’ and ‘Hell in a Handbasket’ seethe with frustration about the seeming non-choice between neo-liberal, right-wing and conservative politicians. The EP feels just like an expression of exasperation – a collection of songs that show a young band finding and questioning their place in the world. Thought-provoking and exhilarating.
