East London rapper and Grime veteran Ghetts has released the highly anticipated video for ‘Preach’, the third single lifted from his latest studio album ‘Ghetto Gospel: The New Testament’, out via GIIG / Caroline Australia.

‘Preach’ – which Ghetts recently performed on Later With Jools Holland and which is currently sitting on the BBC Radio 1 playlist – once again displays the impressive and refreshing sense of growth that Ghetts seen since the release of his album, illustrating themes of boastfulness and ideas around the rise of social media.

Ghetts’ journey began in the borough of Newham, making his first mark in the first wave of Grime, despite the genre being “already on its way” says Ghetts. From day one, his deep understanding of Hip Hop, literature and ability to articulate himself in daily conversation meant he was automatically a natural, and the scene has embraced him ever since. Respected for finding the most innovative ways of painting a picture of his personal experiences, whilst simultaneously relating to the masses, ‘Preach’ is no different, sitting comfortably as one of the many masterpieces found on ‘Ghetto Gospel: The New Testament’.

Ghetts is an artist who came through in the first wave of grime, and has consistently earned the undying respect of his peers and hardcore fans – but who has also exhibited strategic brilliance and hard graft throughout his career, relying consistently on wit and talent over the vagaries of fashion, bringing him to a point today where he is not only making some of the best music of his life, but personally is in a position of acceptance and acute self-knowledge. All of which is expressed in ‘Ghetto Gospel: The New Testament’: a record that has lost none of the darkness or ferocious competitiveness of grassroots grime, but at the same time is able to be full of complexity, finesse and wisdom.  The album is a diverse and culturally relevant interpretation – both visually and lyrically – on Ghetts’ life, story and the times we live in now. It touches on topics of equality, female empowerment, cancer, crime & fatherhood.
