Today, Florist have shared the stream for their anticipated new album, If Blue Could Be Happiness. The Hype Machine, who premiered the album stream today are saying their “lyrics touch on the impermanence of life with striking color and hope, gently celebrating the human experience.” If Blue Could Be Happiness is available for pre-order now and due out 9/29 via Double Double Whammy.

Florist are going on tour this fall with Pinegrove and Lomelda. All dates below.

ABOUT FLORIST:

Florist is a soft-synthesizer-folk band and the friendship project of Emily Sprague, Rick Spataro, and Jonnie Baker.  Born in the Catskill Mountains in 2012, the three began making music together after discovering their shared love for many things musical and for each other.

If Blue Could Be Happiness, the second full length album from Florist, is an observation of change; a full color memory album. It is both a goodbye to a past life and a declaration of great love to a new one. A long mourning song for the death of a mother, a quiet celebration, and a sonic interpretation of the simple and the painful and the beautiful moments that make up one’s life. Arranged, produced, and recorded on to magnetic tape by Emily Sprague, Rick Spataro, and Jonnie Baker during May of 2017 in an old Upstate, New York schoolhouse very near to where the band originated.

PRAISE FOR FLORIST:

“Sweet confessional tone paintings.” – NPR

“Aching, blunt, quiet… frail but determined.” – New York Times

“Heartbreakingly visceral poetry” – The FADER
