You’ve just released a fresh new track ‘Home’ under Scorpio Music, where and when did you record?
Yes! It took us around three months to produce the track. The vocals were recorded in Germany, but most of the production has been done on the road, a bit everywhere 🙂 That’s what also inspire this good vibe that invites you on an adventure!
What programs / equipment did you use?
We are using Ableton Live and many plug-ins / vst. We also recorded the instruments in studio.
What influenced the sound and songwriting for ‘Home’?
Using Harmonica, Marimba, Horns, Piano and Guitar, the song captures a beautiful picture of life and invite the listener to travel. The inspiration is from different parts of our lives and also comes from our desire to share the warmth of the summer and the feeling of coming home, wherever and whatever home is to you.
Did you collaborate with anyone on ‘Home’? If so, who and why?
Yes, we collaborated with the singer and songwriter Ken Dolman. He is an American artist living in Germany. His voice and the emotions that it carries really touched us in the most beautiful ways.
How did you first start playing music?
Florent: I started playing music at my friend’s parties.
Victorien: Very young, I began by performing for all kind of private events.
As a duo your previous release amasses a staggering 65 million + streams, what do you attribute to the massive success of this track and your partnership as a whole?
“Make it Right”, featuring the Chicago based singer, Tyler Sjostrom, was indeed a great success. We believe that the vibe we created with this song and the message, both resonated with the listeners. We also had strong support from French radio and on Spotify which helped.
How did FDVM first start?
Together, we created FDVM 10 years ago, at first, we were organizing students parties in our hometown. We slowly became the organizers of the biggest local parties and then started to book bigger DJs. In the meantime, we began to produce music and release our first songs.
What is the meaning behind the name FDVM?
FDVM stands for our initials, Florent Denecker and Victorien Mulliez.
You’ve just been nominated for DJ Mag’s ‘Best of French’ what does this mean to you?
We are grateful for this nomination, it feels good to be recognized and acknowledged. It means that we are slowly breaking in and making an impact as artists.
You’re currently touring the USA on your ‘Daybreaker US Tour’ how is the tour going?
The US Tour is going really well; we are waking up America with the Morning sober dance movement called Daybreaker (https://www.daybreaker.com/). They are simply the most amazing parties you can go. Each morning, we are in a different city, waking up hundreds of people with the most beautiful message of love and joy!
What do you most enjoy and find most challenging about touring?
What we enjoy the most is interacting with people. Everyone has a wonderful story to tell and amazing teachings to learn from. This is what it is to be human, to connect with each other.
The most challenging part is the travel, jet lag… It’s sometimes very difficult to get enough sleep. Last week, in three days, we performed four shows in four different cities, that took some energy 😀
What has been your favorite show of the US tour and why?
So far, the boat party in New York City was the most fabulous one. We had 1000 people and the energy was off the roof!
Who are you listening to at the moment?
Florent: Oscar and the Wolf, his last album is just sooo good 🙂
Victorien: No particular artists but on the road, I tend to listen mostly to relaxing world music.
Favorite food and place to hangout?
Florent: At my mother’s home 🙂
Victorien: Simply at my friends 😉
