With less than a month until the release of her awaited new album Lilac Everything on 14 September, Emma Louise reveals another cut from the record in ‘Falling Apart’, complete with a live video.
“‘Falling Apart’ was the last song I wrote for the album. I was having a lot of conflicting feelings and went to a friend’s party. I arrived too early and they had a piano. I wrote the song and then left before anyone arrived.” – Emma Louise
Comprised of 10 thoroughly unique new songs, Lilac Everything was written by Emma during a brief sojourn in Mexico. The songs were later recorded at Bear Creek Studio in Seattle with Tobias Jesso Jnr. and mixed by Grammy-award winning sound-engineer Shawn Everett. Notably the album marks Jesso Jnr’s first time working as a producer.
Earlier cuts ‘Wish You Well’ and ‘Mexico’ attracted attention for their open and honest lyrics, but also their brave use of the pitched down vocal effect. It’s a decision that has won Emma praise from fellow creatives and fans, and makes for a wholly unique and novel listening experience.
