Where are you currently based?
How did you first start playing music?
I started singing when I was quite young, picked up a guitar when I was about 10 and have been writing my own music since I was 14.
Who or what influences your songwriting?
It changes all of the time.. lately I’ve been listening to a lot of Julia Jacklin, her songwriting is super honest and direct and I love that.
Experiences also always influence the way I write, and what I’m writing about. I think this whole EP I’m releasing sheds light on how I’ve changed in the past three years – and just growing up.
Please describe your usual songwriting process:
It tends to change quite a bit, depending on whether I’m co-writing in the studio or just sitting in my bedroom nutting things out. I usually come up with a theme/idea I want to sing about then it flows from there, but sometimes it can take months..
Who are you listening to at the moment?
Julia Jacklin, Moses Sumney, have been getting really into the Gang Of Youths Album too..
How do you prepare for each live show?
Rehearse, rehearse, rehearse.! (and right before drink some lemon and ginger tea)
What can we expect from one of your live shows?
I hope it’s quite engaging and intimate.. lots of ambient sounds, but the vocals are always at the forefront – so I cant wait to just sing!
Following the release of your acclaimed debut single ‘Figure it Out’ late last year, you’ve just unveiled your new single Over & Over, what inspired lyrics and music for Over & Over?
Over and over is about a reliable kind of love. A kind of friendship/love you can go months, years without but when you come back to it after that time not much has changed, its easy.
Where and when did you record?
I recorded this track at Forbes St Studios, 2016.
What instruments and programs did you use to record?
I’m not much of a production guru, so my knowledge really extends to garage band.. haha. Jack’s the master of the production, so I leave that to him.
Jack Grace a fellow Aussie artist produced Over & Over, how did this collaboration come about?
I had just moved to Sydney after a pretty rough few months living in melb.. and was put into my first ever co writing session, which happened to be with Jack and we just clicked.
What do you have planned for 2018?
The plan is to write and record a second EP, and hopefully have my own tour towards the end of the year.
Favourite food and place to hangout?
Favourite food is Beef Ragu by a mile.. or cooked tuna sushi (yum). Favourite place to chill is probably my parents home in Cobram, Victoria or down the river.
