Where are you currently based and what is the music scene like there?
Berlin, and it’s crazy!
How and why did EKORD start?
It started as a party in São Paulo in june 2017 and the label was released last year. The idea behind the party and the label is basically to offer and connect a certain variety of sounds in the huge world of electronic music. If you look back and check the guests we had in the party and also the releases of the label, it goes from melodic sounds like Lake People and Dave DK, to House music like Ejeca, and to Techno like Soukie & Windish and Renato Cohen. Thats what we try to do, go from the deepest to the darkest side of emusic.
EKORD is known for releasing good music that crosses between genres. EKORD isn’t a techno label and is also not a house label, you make bloody good electro beats and release music that sounds good. Why did you choose to approach electro in this way and how has this freedom of electro style enabled EKORD to stand out from other labels?
Because every track has its right moment to be played and its boring to stay in the same moment forever. We wanna be there when the dj drop a techno bomb in the club, but we also wanna be there when he spreads love in a sunny day of a nice festival. We don’t wanna stand out from any label, we just want to release music that we like and touch as many hearts as possible with those sounds.
EKORD has recently released to EP’s being Soukie & Windish and Carrot Green. How do you go about choosing artists in with which you would like to work with?
Basically i go after artists that i really like and i also like to release new artists. Looking back, in 1 year EKORD released EPs from artists of the Sao Paulo beautiful new generation scene like Nicolas Pera and Mari Herzer. But we also released names that are more known already for their releases in big labels. Carrot Green is constantly in labels like Permanent Vacations or Get Physical, and Soukie & Windish are the heads behind URSL, one of my favorite labels.
Almost nothing, just final mix details when necessary.
