What is your name and role within Ed Shrader’s Music Beat?
My name is Ed Schrader I’m the singer, lyricist and hummer of ideas -I’ve been playing percussion but shifting to just vocals.
How did you start?
i started in 90’s cover bands in upstate New York (up like next to Canada). We jammed on Smashing Pumpkins /R.E.M. / The Police with our own originals which could best be summed up as jangle pop .
Where are you based?
Baltimore since 2006 !
Please give an example of your music writing process?
i hum stuff into my tape recorder -then I share that with Devlin at which point we begin the process of honing it down . On this most recent album though we shook that process up a bit and in some cases started with Devlin’s grooves and built from there .
What are you working on right now?
just finished recording a pop album that I’m very proud of !
What is your gear setup?
traditionally a drum /Rat pedal /and reverb
What do you like to do outside of music and does it affect your music?
I work as a cook and I dig that -I also do slew of other stuff -like goofy t shirts -a talk show and cartoons.
How would you describe your music genre?
it’s fare at this point to say “pop”.

nope
What are your plans for the future?
hopfully just music !
How did you get into music?
i took the stage at a Church basement in the mid nineties when I was 16 or so and sang “this is how we do it ” . After the show I was asked to join a Smashing Pumpkins cover band called Astro Smash !
What are you listening to at the moment?
Morrisey, lots of 80’s Freestyle , critically panned Elton John 80’s albums – as well as Dave Edmunds and Janet Jackson
