Indie-electronic producer Dim Sum releases his new single, ‘Ange’, on October 12 via Soundress, taken from his upcoming EP. The Parisian producer has received support from an extensive list of tastemaker publications and Youtube channels including COMPLEX, CLASH Mag, Thump, Earmilk, Indie Shuffle, Acid Stag, UKF, ElectroPosé, Get The Sound, TVG, Mr Revillz and Dealer de Musique. In addition to this, Dim Sum has released serveral exceptional remixes of tracks by acclaimed international artists Christine and the Queens, Ra Ra Riot, Panama Wedding, Poom, Julien Doré, Husbands and ODESZA. Dim Sum has also been supporting Zimmer and Karma Kid, creating a trailblazing name for himself in the industry, as well as performing a live set at Kitsuné Club Night. So far, he has also garnered an impressive online following and over 10 million Spotify streams.
Hailing from Paris, Dim Sum initially explored music production when he was inspired by indie bands of the late ‘90s; the French producer then fell deeper down the rabbit hole of influence, exploring more experimental electronic acts such as Daft Punk and, in turn, producing his own music and crafting his unique style. Creating his own unique blend of ethereal sounds, a comfortably-achieved element of smooth house can also be heard here, along with hints of nu-disco and twists of electro.
Citing producers Bibio, Mura Masa, Fakear, Phoenix, Daft Punk among his greatest influencers, Dim Sum achieves extraordinary results by combining an array of different genres and styles into his contagious sound, such as indie-pop, chillwave and smooth-house music. His crisp production elements are resemblant of like-minded producers, Zimmer as well as Seeb and Alle Farben – yet blended together to create his own original, mystical brainchild.
Dim Sum’s latest single, ‘Ange’ is a scintillating piece that draws in the listener with a flawless mix of unique elements such as jazzy finger-snaps, indie-guitar, funk basslines, pulsing house beats and creative vocal manipulation. While Dim Sum’s sound takes influence from traditional electronic and house genres, he is most certainly on his own path when it comes to production, creating complex and thoughtful moods in his tracks while ensuring that his work can fill out any dancefloor.
On his latest single, Dim Sum explains, “‘Ange’ is the second single from my new EP which will be out in December. It is a very important track for me because it is based on samples of my girlfriend’s voice. This is a track about childhood and nostalgia.”
