Miles and The Goodbye Men Release Single ‘I Never Saw It Coming’ [IND] (Out October 12)
“Miles and The Goodbye Men have hit the nail on the head when
it comes to delivering bittersweet pop-rock with an edge.” (Happy Mag)
“The track welds together pop-rock with a touch of dreamy shoe-gaze into a hooky paradise” (The Soundcheck Review)
One of Melbourne’s newest Indie/ Alt-Rockers Miles and The Goodbye Men are hitting the ground running with their debut single ‘I Never Saw It Coming’ [stream here].
Project founder and front-man Matthew Miles first appeared on the music scene in Adelaide with his previous project Lyla who supported the likes of Cloud Control, Dallas Crane and Hungry Kids of Hungary and later broke up in 2012. Miles left for Melbourne, and the remaining members went on to form the Adelaide trio known as Cosmo Thundercat. Now, Miles is re-introducing himself into the music scene with his new project The Goodbye Men.
Showing the eclectic flavour of the band, ‘I Never Saw It Coming’ finds itself bittersweet in mood as they blend the rock formula with dreamy shoe-gaze tones; using big chorus-effect guitars over foreboding lyrics that offer an enlightening and propelling pick-me-up hook in the chorus. Miles states:
“It’s an observation about how being self-absorbed when you’re with someone can lead to it going belly up. And you just don’t see it coming!”
The release of ‘I Never Saw It Coming’ only offers a small taste of what Miles and the Goodbye Men have to offer. Heading back into the studio post-haste with Jackson Barclay at the Aviary Studios after this first release, their debut EP will be well on its way at the time of this premiere.
Matthew Miles is available for interviews, and please contact Kick Push PR to organise media passes for any of their upcoming shows.
