How did you start?
I start to be interest in music as a young boy. I learnt to play drums at the music school. Recently I taught myself to play with keyboards and played all Depeche Mode songs and sung really loud. After the revolution in the east part of Germany it was possible to buy a computer like the Amiga 500. I bought it and then I produced my first own electronic music tracks with the Fast Tracker. Anytime in the earlier nineties I bought records at the Hardwax record store. This is also the reason why my record collection is full of records from Berlin, Detroit and Birmingham like Basic Channel, Chain Reaction, Jeff Mills, Robert Hood or Surgeon, Steve Bicknell and the Advent.
Where are you based?
Homebase is Leipzig (Germany), where also my resident club Distillery is.
Please give an example of your music writing process?
The most important thing is the flow! Mostly I start in a simple way like a simple beat and then i put it to my effect rack or effect chains into my Ableton Live. In this way I got a lot of inspiration. The magic moment is decisive, whether I continue with this work or not. I never have an idea in which direction or which genre the track will go. It is not uncommon that I start with a string in the meaning I produce an ambient track but in the end it changed to a stomping beat. I guess it would be fatal if I decided or set the border before.
What are you working on right now?
Right now I work on a new album for DLSK which will be released on Growin Music. Also I do some projects together with Mathias Kaden as StefaniKaden and a new Release for the project together with Matthias Tanzmann.
What is your gear setup?
In the past I used a lot my Elektron Machinedrum and also the Monomachine to create some ideas for tracks. But nowadays the mostly of the tracks are proucted with the computer. Ableton Live and also very nice sounding Synthesizer of NI are the base of my setup. Of course I’ve some hardware gears like Modular System and also EFX Racks and I patch and record it. So you got your own special sound.
What do you like to do outside of music and does it affect your music?
I do a lot of stuff… first of all I love to spend time with my family and my dog. My daughter keeps me down to earth with so much passion. My family keeps my back free unconditionally, so I can be creative in the studio for my music. I’m also a student at the university and really interested in the international financial market. Besides that I like to hiking through the mountains in total silence, which inspires me a lot.
How would you describe your music genre?
When I play my gigs its more the tech house style. My productions are different.. of course tech house, but also Techno, dub and ambient music, hereby using other synonyms. Such as Urban Force or DLSK.
What are your plans for the future?
My plans are to enter new music fields and genres. I really like the techno scene, but I’m also looking for new ways and challenges. I would love to have a jazz band or to start a project in the electronic pop genre. For now I want to finish my latest album and ideas for the next EP’s
