Where are you currently based and what is the music scene like there?
We are kind of spread out at the moment, but we have been spending some time in LA and that place is humming! It blew our minds how many musicians or producers you would bump into on the street.
How did you first start playing music?
We all got into it differentl. Leon was really into electronic music while he also studied piano when he was younger, Phil did the singer-songwriter gig around pubs in the South West of WA, Liam studied classical music as a kid and then progressed to the drums. It’s a good fit because we can all bring different things to the table.
What’s been happening recently?
We just played our first round of American festivals and the scene over there is truly something! We went from the enormity of a festival like Bonnaroo with 90,000 attendees, to quirky, little festivals like Electric Forest. They were all awesome and proved that the States has a pretty strong festival game, even compared to Australia!
Who are you listening to at the moment?
Channel Tres. Dope.
Who or what influences your sound and songwriting?
We get influences from all over. There might be a cool little lick or fill in one track that we incorporate with a groove from another genre and then play around with that. We do try and stay away from listening too closely to what other people are doing otherwise you might start to forget your own direction.
You’re playing Grapevine Gathering this November, what do you have in store for these run of shows?
We have a really energetic live show. We like to start off slow and end with a big dance!
How do you prepare for each live show?
We get together a few days before the show and make sure we have the set down and make any adjustments we need. Then it’s a few push-ups, a little suckle of Jameson and a good little pre-show warmup speech before we hit the stage.
Why did you decide to play Grapevine Gathering and what are you most looking forward to?
Because who wouldn’t want to play a festival in the middle of a winery?! Also, really looking forward to seeing Touch Sensitive and Flight Facilities.
What do you have planned for the remainder of 2019?
Can’t say yet, but we will play a few more shows around the country!
Any secrets that you care to share?
After a big rinse, we always get a Pho the next day to wash away our sins.
Favourite food and place to hangout?
