Chico Mann & Captain Planet’s critically acclaimed early 2017 Night Visions album, was a unique album highlighting the creative symbiosis of two of the biggest names in contemporary alternative Latin sounds. The release featured Captain Planet’s unmistakable production that kept the album sounding effortlessly danceable and contemporary, while Chico Mann’s vocals possessed an instantly classic appeal hinting at old Cuban rumba and vintage Afrobeat LP’s. Upon release, the project would garnish the duo critical praise with tastemakers like FADER, KCRW, LA Weekly, Boiler Room, and more, all basking in the duo’s exemplary achievement.

Now, less than a year later, the album is getting the remix treatment from a whole host of diverse producers taking the original vibes into new directions and sound spheres. Coming to us via Brooklyn label Bastard Jazz, the project features eight new remixes with highlights including Yukicito’s transformation of “Ya Te Toca” into a rumbling Latin dancefloor monster, Nickodemus’shuffling drum heavy rework of “Aguacero,” B.Bravo turning “Misunderstood” into a hip-hop and RnB influenced banger, and Allen French giving “Como Me Miras” a smoothed out baeleric house treatment. Other remixes come from the likes of Emynd, JusNow, Lagartijeando, and Sumohair.

The package also includes a brand new original single from Chico Mann & Captain Planet, “Ariwoko,” a low slung take on a classic Fela Kuti joint. Check out “Night Visions Remixed” and order now via Bandcamp.
