What is your name and role within Charming Horses?
My name is Michael, I´m a DJ & Producer
Being creative in the studio but I´m also working together with sevral different teams of musicians
and producers and writers for my songs.
How did you start?
I started already more than 15 years ago, started with different small “underground” house projects besides that
i´m always playing as a DJ in clubs and festivals.
Where are you based?
near Cologne, Germany
Please give an example of your music writing process?
It´s always different. Sometimes it´s a meeting with singers, songwriters and musicians
and we are looking together for first ideas, othertimes I get an acapella and
try to find the right charming production around.
Other times working out some housy loops and then my mgmt send them to different writers and singers.
What are you working on right now?
Upcoming charming releases for Sony and Remixes for Zara Larrson , Clean Bandit, and Hardwell!
What is your gear setup?
Most important for me is a strong workstation with Cubase, and several plugs like
Sylenth, Massive, Moog, Omnisphere, Trilian, and last but not least the new Avenger.
Using the Fab Filters and Soundtoys stuff. Furthermore the UAD II with my favourite compressor,
also the Avalon pre-amp and the Adam P22 speakers.
What do you like to do outside of music and does it affect your music?
I´m collecting classic house vinyls and classic 80s Boomboxes, sure that´s affecting always 😉
Beside that I like sports (short and intensive workouts), Longboarding, Badminton, Soccer
and I love to relax while baking my own bread 😉

What are your plans for the future?
Making the world a bit more charming .
How did you get into music?
I´m a child from the 80s, hearing so many synthpop and disco stuff as a teenager.
Years later a good friend took me for the first time to small dance clubs near cologne
and I heard Dj legends like David Morales, Marshall Jefferson, Jeff Mills, Derrick May or Farley Jackmaster Funk
to name a view. I was totally flashed by their house sound, buying 2 Technics 1210 MKII , started collecting vinyls
and practicing all day and night. Later I started my own small house parties in different small clubs. Beside that I build up my own
very first and small micro studio just with an Amiga500 combined with a small sampler and some additional FX hardware.
Long ago but that´s how it started ! 😉
What are you listening to at the moment?
Unfortunately I cannot pick one special style or track,
i´m always interested in any kind of music and all different genres.
For me it´s always important to be totally open minded.

Depeche Mode, Pharrell, Earth Wind and Fire, Michael Mc Donald, Calvin Harris.
