Box Hill Institute is proud to present The Future of Australian Hip Hop panel as part of Melbourne’s premier music conference, CHANGES. Artist, producer, mentor and educator, Syrene Favero (Creamy Spies), will moderate the panel, which will discuss the future of hip hop music and reflect on music of the past.
The Future of Australian Hip Hop panel will examine new industry models and international opportunities as CHANGES takes an insightful journey from a once white rock/pop dominated musical landscape to a new wave of hip hop artists, and new business strategies that are reshaping and re-positioning Australia as a new frontier for hip hop globally.
Joining Syrene for this very important exploration is ARIA Award winning artist N’fa Jonesand the co-creator and of the Diploma of Music focused on Hip Hop, at Box Hill Institute,Jerry Poon founder of The Operatives, Shelley Liu from Valve Sounds and Vita Music Group, Neil Morris of Drmngnow, Vic Music Development Office and RRR, and DJ promoter, PBS radio host and curator Danielle Rizk (DJ MzRizk).
Syrene Favero and N’fa Jones continue to stimulate the local musical community and deliver a Diploma of Music focused on Hip Hop at Box Hill Institute. This course is Australia’s first recognised music qualification designed for the modern hip hop artist.
Some of Australia’s leading hip hop artists deliver the course in a one-year intensive diploma, which focuses on music management, hip hop production, songwriting and performance techniques, and students have the opportunity to record, mix, perform and release music.
