How would you describe your sound?
Our sound is a constant changing vision, It can be described as classic soul sounding some days, and modern trap the next. In essence we try to mix the sounds of classic r&b with the ever-changing landscape of Rap / Hip-Hop & Electronic music. We most importantly create what we feel.
What’s been happening recently?
We’ve been locked away in the BoomHouse working on our live shows, creating new tunes, helping some of our very talented friends with their own music. After the release our focus is on creating an exciting, interactive live show for all of those supporting.
Your single ‘Every Little Thing’ has just been released, what influenced the sound and songwriting?
Rico & Finbar originally created the track influenced by Mac Miller’s Dang, The song was created on our second session we had together, and was quite instantaneously produced and written, It was how we were feeling that day in the studio, things flowed very nicely together and we had nearly all the elements together for that song on the first day.
How did you go about writing this track?
We generally just jump infront of the mic and hope for the best, we always start with the chords and workshop different melodies and see what we all think, If we like he melody we will write words along to that. Its a very organic way to write a track as it allows us to convey how we feel without trying to stick to a grid or lock us into a feeling.
Where and when did you record/produce and who with?
We recorded the track at the BoomHouse, The song was first made with Rico & Finbar. We all jumped on it the following days and that really was the moment we realised doing this all together as a band could be a really awesome thing to pursue
What did you find most challenging/rewarding during the creation of Every Little Thing?
The thing we found challenging was definitely writing the verses. We did the verses at a later date and it took us time to really figure out what we we’re trying to convey and express what we wanted the song to be about, We realised pretty quickly not all our songs have to have a deeper meaning or a crazy philosophy behind it, We really wanted to just make something people can listen to driving, partying or chilling out.
How do you prepare for live shows and what is your live show like?
We have all come together every Sunday for the past 10 months to practice, hang out and jam, this is essentially looked at as our family day, we have been working hard on the live shows and we are super excited to perform our first show very soon!
Please tell us about any up coming shows/tours:
We have acouple shows coming up soon!
Our first show will be at Bulli’s illustrious Heritage Hotel (Wollongong)
We also have been very lucky to be featured artists at this years Australian Music Week In Cronulla. On November 7th we will be taking over the Brass Monkey with the whole BoomChild family performing.
What do you like to do away from music?
Something we are really proud and happy about is that outside of music we are all best friends, our relationships began with music but it doesn’t define our relationship, we all love to play video games, you can frequently catch half of the boys in an intense smash bros. match throughout the day.
What’s planned for the remainder of 2019 going into 2020?
We plan on working on some more tunes in the BoomHouse aswell as releases from our friends RISSA & Ms. Thandi, and also touring around NSW.
