Where are you currently based?
The South East part of Amsterdam. Also referred to as the ‘Bijlmer’

How did you first start playing music?
My dad is a musician, so I was exposed to it a very young age. And that led to me starting to play on a little toy keyboard at the age of 8 years old

What’s been happening recently?
Recently I’ve been making a lot of new music, getting inspired by life and feeling proud that I made Sintha

What influenced the sound and songwriting for your first solo EP ‘Sintha’?
My journey of being a musician/producer and combining those 2 crafts together. Also being inspired by classic soul songs ranging from Marvin Gaye to D’angelo!

Where and when did you record/produce/master and who with?
70% of Sintha was created in my bedroom! And the rest was recorded in Red Bull Studios

What programs/instruments did you use?
I use Logic Pro X a lot for my records.
Bass guitar, Piano, Rodes, Electric Guitar, Trumpet, Trombone, Flute and Drums

What does this EP mean to you?
A lot, because it’s my first baby you know. It feels special because I thought about the project for 2 years without making any music and I finally did it

You created a video with Robbert Doelwijt, how did this collaboration come about and how was the experience?
I’ve been trying to work with Robbert a while, because i really liked his work. And when I was done with the music for Sintha I asked him if we could make a short movie for the EP.

You just finished your first solo tour with your all female band, please tell us about any highlights:
It was amazing. On my sold out Paradiso Noord show Kokoroko even showed up to play a song with us. That’s the biggest highlight.

Who did you collaborate with on the album?
All the homies, too much to mention! But I love everybody’s contribution

What do you like to do away from music?
I like to play ball, kick box and have a collective called C.R.E.A.M. with a couple friends of mine.

Who are you listening to at the moment?
Isaac Hayes

What’s planned for the remainder of 2021 going into 2022?
Going back to the motherland, Ghana!
