BELLEVUE DAYS

by the partae

What is your name and role within Bellevue Days?

Hey, Alan and Jack here!

I play guitar and sing in the band

J: I’m on drums

How did you start?

A: Me, Joe (bass) and jack (drums) started the band a while back wanting to make some sick tunes, but was missing an extra guitar, and we saw dan (guitar) in his other band he had at the time and thought he was sick  time, so we basically stole him! He’s a cool guy.

Where are you based?

A little town called Croydon in the U.K.

What a place.

Please give an example of your music writing process?

I’d usually write the basis of a song at home and take it too the lads and let them make it better. Four heads are better than one.

What are you working on right now?

We have just recorded our third EP ‘Rosehill’, gonna be releasing that on 4th July.

What is your gear setup?

A: I currently rock a fender telecaster deluxe on a fender hotrod amp, i fucking love fender. Dan uses a strat with a vox amp, I’d like to think the tones complement each other nicely. Plus we have a lot of pedals.

J: I have an old premier cabria kit, with some new skins and some love it sounds pretty cool. Not much made by brits anymore! Cymbal wise it’s a mix of sabian aax’s and a 18″ stagg sh.

What do you like to do outside of music and does it affect your music?

J: between us it’s either hand making guitars, going to gigs, visiting pubs and playing Xbox! None of it gets in the way.

How would you describe your music genre?

Sludge-pop / alt-rock.

Do you know any music theory?

A: I can’t even re string my guitar myself so I think that puts learning music theory out the window. I know the notes of a guitar, that’s all I need.

J: I studied at acm so kinda had to learn it. It’s a helpful tool as a guide but your ears are better.

What are your plans for the future?

A: Play shit loads of shows and hopefully get a couple of fans during the process.

How did you get into music?

A: I’ve always loved music, I remember recording songs straight onto cassette when I was kid, I used to put elastic bands round a box and pretend it was a guitar, good times. My older brother was in bands and stuff as well and I thought it seemed pretty cool as well.

What are you listening to at the moment?

A: I’m listening to a lot of sorority noise and I’m digging that new The National tune as well.

Who are your top 5 influences and icons?

A: Big question. I have a couple band influences.

J: Dave grohl and Mark Richardson are well up there drum/musician wise for me.

When are you playing next?

J: we play 2000 trees festival in July, and citadel festival also. And we have two UK tours, one in August and in October. Details on our page!
