Bearfoot

You’ve recently released your new single ‘Crazy For You’. What has the reaction been like and is it what you expected?
The response has been awesome, heaps of coverage, a whole heap of downloads and radio play. We didn’t really know what to expect just knew this track was the one.

You’re currently on your Australian tour. What has the experience been like so far and what should fans expect to see at a Bearfoot show?
We’re having a sweet time! All the shows have gone well with great turn outs. Expect to get moving. Expect a sing along and a good old fashioned boogie.

When you’re on the road, who’s the member that’s always late to the van?
I think we’re all fairly used to being punctual, but then again we’re all very social critters and will often hang around for a chat with locals. I’m gonna just say we take turns in being late.

Do you have a pre-show ritual before you go on stage?
Yes. It’s a chant from the movie “Cool Running’s”. “Feel the rhythm, feel the rhyme, get on up, ITS BOBSLED TIME!”

Collectively, what is your all-time favourite album and why is it so special to Bearfoot?

We all have a very broad taste in music. But I’m going to have to go with Kingfisha (self titled). It’s a great album and is always on high rotation in the Bearfoot bus. It’s also the album that introduced us to the legendary Paulie B from Tanuki Lounge. The Guru that recorded most of our tunes.

If you could pick any dead or alive artist to work with, who would it be and why?
You’re probably already expecting it but Bob Marley. Because Bob Marley……

Who would you love to support on tour and who would you love to support you on tour and why?
Theses just so many bands we would love to support! Cronixx, Katchafire, The Expanders, Damian Marley, Anthony B .ect As for supporting us, we’ve recently done a few dates with Fat Picnic. They Supported us and we’re returning the favour later on supporting them. 2 great bands putting on a killer show, that’s what it’s all about.

What was it like working with Andrea Kirwin and how it come about?
So good! She’s an amazingly talented human and such an awesome person to hang out with. The collaboration was suggested by Matthew Elliott, our manager. At first it was just for a bit of backing vocals but in one of the takes she sang the second verse. It sounded so great we decided to keep it.

What is the story behind the name ‘Bearfoot’?
Asher (frontman) hates wearing shoes, but Barefoot didn’t really suit the band. Bears are symbolic in many cultures and represent courage, protection and strength. So we went with BEARFOOT.

What do you enjoy most, touring or recording and why?
They both have their ups and downs but I’m going to say touring. Sharing music with new people, making friends and seeing more of this wonderful planet.
