Debut album ‘More Nothing’ out in August
“The magic of Baby in Vain is how they spin old rock tropes on a
sixpence… [they] are giving guitar music a snarling shot
“a visceral combination of Sleater Kinney, Babes in Toyland, and
Queens of the Stone Age with boss-ass results”
Having just announced their debut album More Nothing, Denmark’s Baby In Vain have unveiled the video for latest single “To Heaven And Back”. Directed by Palle Demant, the video sees the guitarists Lola Hammerich and Andrea Thuesen Johansen skating whilst hitching a ride from drummer Benedicte Pierleoni’s moped. Inspired by the visuals of Californian bands in the early days of MTV, the video was shot in one complete take, using a ENG DVCAM camera that used to be used to film the news in the 1990s.
Of the video, Baby In Vain said: “The two coolest things to do in the world are skateboarding and driving a motorcycle. What do you do when you don’t have a motorcycle? You steal a moped.“
Baby In Vain’s debut album More Nothing, released on Friday August 25 on Partisan Recordsvia Inertia Music, was recorded in just 11 days in Eve Studios with producer Rob Ellis (PJ Harvey, Scott Walker, Bat For Lashes). Treading the line between seasoned accuracy and youthful urgency, More Nothing is the sound of a band hitting their stride, ready to make their mark.
The Copenhagen based trio have been creating hugely impactful rock music since forming when they were still at school. Having perfected their craft sharing stages with luminaries such as The Jesus And Mary Chain and The Kills (Alison Mosshart handpicked the band to join them on US and UK tours), Baby In Vain have refined their sound to a near perfect precision.
