A small slice of Ibiza has arrived on the sunny shores of southern Thailand with the opening of Baba Beach Club in October of last year, a luxury lifestyle hotel for music lovers created by the owners of renowned luxury resort Sri panwa and powered by an ultra-impressive Funktion-One sound system. The beach club is just 20 minutes north of the Phuket International Airport and offers direct access to the unspoiled white sand Natai Beach thus boasting sublime sunsets and spectacular views of the Andaman Sea.
The line-up has so far seen names like Nicole Moudaber together with BE-AT.tv, Be Svendon, Maxxi Soundsystem, Shaded and Yokoo as well as collectives like Colours of Love, Neverest, and Die Empathie as well as a Wonderfruit Decompression.
Their sister hotel Sri Panwa has also hosted talent like Avicii, Rita Ora, Sasha, Skrillex, Diplo, Snoop Dogg, Fatboy Slim, Soul Clap, Jamie Jones, Damian Lazarus and and even set up shop atop of Baba Nest, Sri Panwa’s award-winning rooftop bar that commands 360° panoramic views of the Andaman Sea, for ultra-exclusive DJ events.
“If we had built a traditional hotel, it would have been boring but a luxury Ibiza-style beach-club themed hotel is a totally different experience and exciting for Thailand. We are essentially trying to create product that is fun and challenges the norm,” says Baba’s managing director and owner, Vorasit ‘Wan’ Issara.
“We don’t want a spa getaway or a place to chill out, Thailand already has plenty of those. We wanted a theme that was upbeat and centered around music.”
“We aim to provide our guests with poolside luxury beach club experiences like no other,” he continued. “I want to create a perfect balance between design, architecture, service, good music and good vibe. At Baba Beach Club, you’ll find all those elements working together in syncopated harmony.”

As high season approaches, the Baba team is hard at work carefully curating its winter program which includes partnerships with Balearic beach clubs, world famous house and techno talents, global live-streaming platforms and regional clubs and festivals to offer week after week of unique parties, events and decompressions. What has been dubbed the best in Asia by Mixmag, Baba Beach Club’s pool area boasts an impressive sound system powered by Funktion-One with rooms and its villas are outfitted with by either a Bose or Marshall Audio sound system. Sergei Smykalov, Baba’s music director, carefully curates the beach club’s extensive playlist for every mood on iPods and iPads that are found in every room throughout the hotel as well as the beach clubs SoundCloud and Spotify accounts. Today Baba Beach Club boasts 16 luxury beachfront rooms made up of 2 x 1-bedroom ocean view suites, 4 x 1-bedroom private pool suites and 8 x 1-bedroom villas an additional 3 x 5 bedroom villas all situated along an absolute beachfront. Phase 2 of the resort slated to open just in time for high season and will see 10 x 2 bedroom villas open later this year.
