ARTY ‘Supposed to Be’
Following the success of his single ‘Idea of You’ featuring Eric Nam in June, Arty presents his latest single ‘Supposed to Be’. Releasing on STMPD RCRDS, Arty joins a small group of artists who have been carefully chosen to release music on Garrix’s emerging label that include Canadian DJ/producer Conro and UK pop sensation Conor Maynard.
As an accomplished musician from an early age, classically trained Arty combines his knowledge of music with a passion for exploring the endless possibilities that the electronic music landscape has to offer. ‘Supposed to Be’ features a more down tempo style and is an incredibly skillful cross over track that will appeal to a much wider audience, one that extends beyond the electronic music market.
‘Supposed to Be’ takes the listener on a journey of discovery following the loss of someone close. It opens with a solemn low key guitar melody that is suggestive of that feeling of despair and emptiness. However, an end can often bring about new beginnings and as the track develops stronger notes of percussion symbolise the strength that can be derived from positivity, companionship and acceptance that allow one to move forward. The introduction of more complex rhythms and sounds during the chorus brings the track to its high point; the darkness has made way for the light. The moving and sincere lyrics set an emotional tone that offer comfort and reassurance that all is right.
As Arty explains himself: “Working on this record was an unbelievable experience. The lyrics are so meaningful and powerful that I wanted to make sure that all of the instruments I was using were reflecting the overall significance of the song. We all go through the tough moments in our life when we lose purpose, get stuck in the past, and don’t see how to move on. At these points, we need to remember that God is smiling on us and we have so many reasons to live.”
Having concluded a whirlwind tour of the United States taking in cities such as Denver, Detroit, and LA and some stellar performances in Ibiza supporting Martin Garrix and Armin van Buuren there is little doubt regarding Arty’s relentless work ethic as he strives to push the boundaries of his craft, whether performing and producing as Arty or under his trance alias ALPHA 9. Not content with global touring and producing, Arty has just broadcast the 86th episode of his Sirius radio show Together FM which boasts a 5 million strong audience weekly.
